ADVENTURES OFFSHORE: Web: www.adventuresoffshore.co.uk A new adventure for your Network programme. Perhaps you've been wondering what it's like to sail on the open sea. Maybe you've tried dinghy sailing, but not the bigger boats. Or maybe you've already experienced off-shore sailing, and fancy going further afield.Adventures Offshore is a sail training charity and part of Scouting. They operate two modern yachts on a variety of voyages on the east coast and further afield, including the fantastic annual Tall Ships Race series. All voyages are led by professionally qualified volunteer afterguard, who will guide you and teach you some of the skills necessary to operate a large yacht at sea. Longer voyages can count towards the DoE Gold Award Residential and provide the opportunity to gain the RYA Competent Crew qualification. They also have a successful trainee mate scheme for those that show the aptitude and commitment to join their volunteer aterguard. For more info see: 'Events' page and 'Files/Downloadable Docs'............
The purpose of this site is to provide a one stop location where Network members can find out what events are happening around the country. Individual networks can choose to list selected smaller county and network based events alongside national and international events to allow people travelling the country to drop in and experience other Networks in action. "This will allow for meeting new people, sharing different styles and ideas and ultimately start putting the networking back into network..... :)" If we are putting in the effort to provide these events to our Networks lets invite others to join in our success.
World Scout Moots are the only World Scout event for members of the Scout Network to attend as participants.
In 2004, the 12th World Moot took place in Taiwan and GLMW Scout Network sent 2 members. from Pennore and ABC Why not find out what they experienced by asking them ?.
Unfortunately the 13th World Moot in Mozambique was cancelled.
The Next World Moot is planned for 2010 in Kenya. More info to follow.
